my journey so far and the roadmap ahead
From Gamer to Developer
My entry into programming began with game scripting and server modding, where I explored low-level concepts through C++ and configuration-based systems. What started as curiosity quickly became a hands-on learning experience in building and customizing multiplayer environments.
During high school, I was an active gamer but found solo gameplay limiting. I wanted to create shared experiences with friends, which led me to explore how multiplayer systems work. This sparked my interest in servers, networking, and real-time interaction. I began researching how to host and configure game servers, eventually setting up my own environments to enable multiplayer gameplay.
To extend functionality, I worked with Pawn, a lightweight scripting language commonly used in game modding. Through this, I learned how to customize gameplay logic, manage server-side events, and modify in-game systems. This experience laid the foundation for my understanding of programming logic, debugging, and system configuration.
My First Cloud Server Interaction
This journey began while I was attempting to deploy my local game servers online. While searching for a way to record and share my thoughts on hosting providers, I developed a deeper curiosity about how servers actually work. That moment led me to explore Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and opened the door to hands-on experience in server management.
I started configuring both Linux and Windows-based environments, including Ubuntu and CentOS. Using tools like FileZilla and PuTTY, I learned how to remotely access servers, transfer files, and manage deployments efficiently. This was my first exposure to real-world server operations outside of a local development setup.
As I progressed, I built a custom game server panel that allowed me to create, deploy, and monitor multiple game servers simultaneously. This project helped me understand process management, server resource allocation, and basic automation workflows.
College
I attended Ateneo de Naga University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. During my time there, I developed a strong foundation in programming, software development, and IT infrastructure. I also had the opportunity to work on various projects and internships that allowed me to apply my knowledge in real-world scenarios. My education at Ateneo de Naga University has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of information technology, and I am eager to continue learning and growing in this dynamic industry.
