Billang is a gamified personal finance application designed to make expense tracking more engaging and approachable. Instead of relying on notebooks or spreadsheets, users can record daily transactions, organize their finances, monitor budgets, and visualize spending habits through an intuitive mobile experience.
By combining financial tracking with gamification, the application encourages users to build consistent money management habits through progress tracking, streaks, and achievements.
Problem
Managing personal finances manually is often repetitive and difficult to maintain. Recording every expense on paper or across multiple apps makes it challenging to review spending patterns, monitor savings goals, and understand where money goes over time.
Billang was created to provide a centralized and interactive solution that simplifies expense management while motivating users to stay financially disciplined.
My Role
Served as a Full Stack Developer, responsible for the application's architecture, implementation, and user experience.
My contributions included:
- Selected the project's technology stack, including Expo Router for file-based navigation and SQLite for local data persistence.
- Designed and developed responsive mobile interfaces focused on usability and accessibility.
- Built reusable UI components and application layouts.
- Implemented client-side routing and navigation using Expo Router.
- Developed backend logic for expense tracking, budgeting, and financial data management with SQLite.
- Designed the local database schema and handled CRUD operations.
- Collaborated on improving the overall user experience through iterative design and feature refinement.
- Participated in testing, debugging, and performance optimization throughout development.
